Trump Meets Brazil’s Bolsonaro at the White House
President Trump will meet with his populist Brazilian doppelganger, President Jair Bolsonaro, at the White House on Tuesday.
The summit is being closely watched for signals of a renaissance in US-Brazil relations given the two leaders’ similar politics and outsider status in their respective political establishments. As reported by the Financial Times, just days before the meeting, Bolsonaro’s son was schmoozing with Steve Bannon and other members of ‘the Movement’ in downtown Washington D.C.
There Eduardo Bolsonaro was quoted as saying: “We’re doing what the communists and socialists did a long time ago. We’re organizing ourselves, internationally.”
