In the midst of ongoing parliamentary elections in India, the most important question hovering in all corners of the country is whether Narendra Modi, the nominee for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will become the prime minister of India. If predictions by the polling experts are to be believed then Narendra Modi, the darling of the corporate sector in India, is way ahead of others in the race to become the country’s next prime minister.

According to a pre-poll survey by ABP News and Nielsen, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) – of which Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party is the largest constituent – may bag 236 parliamentary seats out of a total 545 in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament. Another survey organized by NDTV, a reputed media organization, has projected the NDA share at 230 seats. The Indian National Congress, the oldest political party in the election fray, lags far behind and according to popular estimates stands no chance of taking power through the coalition it leads- the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
